This session is part of a series of webinars, organized by national member societies of the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth. In this edition, the Society for Telemedicine and eHealth in Nigeria (SFTeHIN) will discuss the connected health system in Nigeria.

The session will highlight the prevailing fragmentation among digital health solutions currently operating in Nigeria. Many providers offer great solutions, including telemedicine platforms, Electronic Medical Records, AI-driven tools, and patient-generated health data systems such as wearables. However, these solutions largely operate in silos. The data collected across these platforms are not sufficiently integrated to enable continuity of care, population health analytics, or improved patient outcomes – whether in preventive health or curative service delivery.

This session will underscore the systemic challenges posed by this lack of interoperability and emphasize the importance of adopting interoperable standards as a strategic pathway toward building a connected health ecosystem that delivers better health outcomes in Nigeria.

A guest speaker will provide an overview of what the connected health system in Nigeria looks like, assess the current state of digital health interoperability, and identify key structural and policy barriers limiting effective integration.

A panel of experts from the private, public and non-profit sectors will share cross-cutting insights and propose practical, system-level solutions from their respective perspectives.
