The Society for Telemedicine and eHealth in Nigeria (SFTeHIN), partnering with the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), convened a webinar on March 11 to address barriers to interoperable digital health in Nigeria. Experts from government, NGOs, and private sectors discussed transitioning from fragmented pilots to unified systems supporting scalable telemedicine.
Keynote speaker Dr. Emeka Chukwu of FutureFit Innovation Lab noted progress in policy and infrastructure but stressed implementation gaps, stating telemedicine’s true value lies in connected systems for continuous care and data sharing. Panelists including Dr. Inyobong of the Federal Capital Territory Administration highlighted operationalizing frameworks like the National Digital Health Enterprise Architecture, while Mrs. Roselyn Ilori of Bridge57 emphasized building public trust and digital literacy. Dr. Folarin of TrueDoc Nigeria advocated FHIR standards backed by governance and public-private collaboration.
The discussion identified interoperability, trust, and multi-stakeholder cooperation as pivotal for Nigeria’s digital health maturity.
