The International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) recently launched a new webinar series showcasing national digital health initiatives, beginning with a session hosted by the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (FSTeH) on January 14, 2026. The webinar explored Finland’s digital health ecosystem, highlighting a nationwide focus on efficiency, accessibility, and interoperability following major healthcare structural reforms in 2023. Experts presented evidence demonstrating that digital care pathways, particularly chat-based primary care, are not only cost-effective but also improve outcomes for chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
Presenters also showcased practical, real-world implementations of these technologies, including the regional “Luna” application, which offers multilingual chat and video appointments, alongside pilot programs for AI-based real-time translation and clinical scribes. Furthermore, the session highlighted “Health Village,” a highly successful national digital ecosystem featuring over 300 digital care pathways co-created by Finnish university hospitals to ensure clinical credibility and evidence-based design.
