ISfTeH partners with Cromford Health to launch global telehealth training

ISfTeH is collaborating with Cromford Health to roll out research-informed, intermediate, and advanced continuing-education certificates in telehealth. The program targets clinicians, administrators, and entrepreneurs, and is aligned with emerging international and US standards and WHO digital health priorities—supporting high-quality virtual care worldwide.

Initial modules of this training program will include:

Virtual Care Webside Manner: covering essential aspects of effective online patient interactions. It explains the concept of webside manners and their significance, highlighting the challenges of video conferencing communication. The course provides guidance on building rapport, establishing trust, employing effective nonverbal communication, and active listening during virtual encounters. Additionally, it discusses how to address patient concerns empathetically, manage technical issues and interruptions, and maintain professionalism and boundaries. Strategies for offering emotional support and reassurance are also discussed, with an emphasis on the importance of follow-up and documentation in virtual care.

Allied Health Telehealth Quality: exploring the role of telehealth in allied health, emphasizing its benefits for both patients and providers. Participants will learn about various telehealth technologies and equipment used in virtual encounters, delve into legal and regulatory considerations related to privacy and security, and develop essential interprofessional communication skills. Proficiency in using telehealth equipment and troubleshooting technical issues will be demonstrated, along with the process for patient assessment, diagnosis, and management in virtual visits. The course covers patient education, rapport-building, and trust-building strategies in virtual encounters, along with the importance of quality outcomes reporting and digital health equity, focusing on Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) for underserved populations’ improved access to healthcare services.

The Virtualist Encounter – Tele-Critical Care: comprehensive training program covering the evolution of tele-critical care, including its background and development. It then delves into methods for obtaining a detailed patient history and conducting examinations during virtual encounters. The course emphasizes effective care coordination for comprehensive patient care in a virtual setting and offers insights into communication strategies for managing rapidly deteriorating patients. Optimal documentation practices for tele-critical care encounters are discussed, along with methods for ensuring best practices. Additionally, the program addresses the efficient execution of daily rounds by virtualists and tele-intensivists. It also highlights the limitations of telemedicine in critical care and explores the role of virtualists and tele-intensivists in palliative care discussions.

“We are dedicated and passionate about growing the collective knowledge of digital health around the world through research and collaboration,” says founder Bryan Arkwright, underscoring the fit with ISfTeH’s global mission.

Special benefits and conditions for ISfTeH members and ministries of health will apply.
